What is a giclée print?
What is a giclée print?
Giclée prints are the finest and some of the most sought after reproductions in the fine art world!
A giclée (pronounced “zhee-clay”) is a high-quality printing process used for creating fine art prints from digital sources using archival-quality, pigment-based inks.
From the French "to spray", this printing process mists pigment based inks on a museum grade surface to produce the most detailed rendering of an artwork possible.
The term giclée applies to both paper and canvas prints. For paper prints, giclée typically uses heavyweight, acid-free, and archival-quality paper to ensure long-term durability and resistance to fading. On canvas, giclée prints offer a textured surface that gives the print a more painterly effect.
Why choose a giclée print?
Giclée prints are known for their exceptional colour accuracy, sharp detail, and longevity. Giclée prints are often used by artists and photographers for reproducing their work due to the faithful colour reproduction and long-lasting quality, sometimes lasting over 100 years without noticeable fading if cared for properly.
Giclée printing is highly respected in the art world and is often used for limited edition reproductions of original works, providing a museum-quality print that collectors can proudly display.
What is Diasec / Dibond?
What is Diasec / Dibond?
A ‘Diasec’ or ‘Dibond’ art print refers to a specific mounting process that permanently adheres photographs or fine art prints to transparent acrylic glass with an aluminium composite backing. This patented technique is renowned for its ability to create a stunning visual effect, enhancing colour brilliance and image sharpness.
The Diasec method ensures that the final artwork is free from streaks and bubbles, providing a completely flat and seamless presentation.
Why choose Diasec / Dibond?
One of the key advantages of Diasec mounting is its durability. It protects the print from UV light, fading, and environmental damage, making it a favoured choice among artists and galleries. Because of its proven longevity, many fine art museums accept only genuine Diasec mounts for high-value editions.
The prints are backed onto aluminium for added stability and a rear mount to create a floating appearance on the wall. These prints look great either framed or unframed. Because they are highly resistant to moisture, they can be displayed in humid areas like bathrooms or even outdoors. Hand-crafted with excellence, these premium prints arrive to you with the hardware installed for immediate effortless hanging.
